Through daily demonstrations and personal critiques Kurt Anderson will help you to energize your figure and portrait painting with a naturalistic approach to color transitions in flesh tones, and analyzing shapes in terms of gesture, expression and anatomy. His instruction is grounded in the classic atelier method, which emphasizes building skill upon skill. Working from live models a new subject and painting will be taken up each day including head study, nude figure and costumed figure. $350.(includes lunch)

Kurt Anderson has won top honors with the Oil Painter of America, the Salon International and the Open Market National. He also won grand Prize in International Artist Magazine's 2004 Floral Painting Challenge. He has been featured in seven books and is author of Realistic Oil Painting Techniques (North Light Book, 1995)

Anderson received his artistic education in the traditional atelier or studio system of training under Minneapolis artist Richard Lack. This makes him part of a master-pupil lineage that can be traced back to 19th century masters such as Jacques Louis David.
