| After a short move away from Tubac, Katherine is now back to the wonderful Village of Tubac and operating "Workshops of Tubac".
Katherine was born and lived in New York City until her marriage took her traveling around the country. She and her husband settled in California where they raised two children. Kathy started drawing and painting at the age of 12. Her career started not in illustration as was her goal, but as a print production manager moving on to graphic design, and eventually art direction. Her interest in emerging technologies enabled her to develop a wide range of skills with the use of graphic design software. After retiring from the world of advertising, she pursued her first love: fine art. In search of her own style and technique, Kathy continued studying by attending workshops with a variety of artists. She has explored the realistic watercolors of Robert Reynolds, the very controlled but loose Chinese watercolor painting of Lian Quan Zhen, the broad bold strokes of Dale Laitinen, and on to landscapes in oil with Lois Griffel, David Simons, Michael C. Johnson & Jean Ranstrom.
Artists Statement Painting is part of who I am. I like to simplify objects and paint the light and shadows. Artist are always learning, as you can see, my portfolio reflects the changes that happen with exposure to new ideas and places.
